Hawkchurch Community Shop
The new and improved community shop at Hawkchurch opened last month to great success. The shop is well stocked, providing local produce as well as essentials and is entirely managed and run by volunteers. It is a great asset to the village and provides a much needed service for local residents. The original shop first opened on the same site in 2014 but due to its popularity soon out grew the second hand porta cabin. The committee put together a detailed plan for improvements and a planning application was granted to replace the existing cabin with a purpose built log cabin.
The log cabin was designed and built by Keops to full building regulations standard. The building measures 12.35 metres by 4.35 metres with an apex/ridge roof. It has full roof, floor and wall insulations and double glazed windows and doors making it very energy efficient. The feature porch with pine posts provides a practical entrance way into the shop.
