Seriously thinking of moving to Germany and living totally of grid we stay over there alot! have you or do you know of anyone who has done this? Can you deliver and cost?

      Hi Frank,

We don’t know anyone who has done it off grid in Germany but we can supply, deliver and build there. We need to know your ideal design and spec of cabin plus delivery address and we can quote accurately.

Hi, how much extra would it cost to deliver to France, and assemble.

    Thanks
    Regards
    Matthew

      Hi Matthew,

If you’d like to drop us an email with the French address we will be able to work out costs for you. Have you got your permissions in place?

Hi, do you have any turn key options available? We love the idea but would like a all-in cost, for a live in mobile log cabin with electric, water, heating and all appliances.

      Hi Dom,

Sorry, we don’t undertake a full turn key solution. We concentrate on what we are good at – designing, supplying and building our log cabins and leave services and fitting out to those experts in their fields. Maybe the best option for you would be to take on a project manager who would be able to do everything on your behalf?

So the “comfort” version of this cabin won’t pass UK building regs is that correct? but the £35k insulated version will?

    • Paula April 19, 2018 at 8:35 am - Reply

      Hi Dave,

Yes, that’s correct, which is why the majority of our customers choose the ‘Sandpiper’ mobile home version which can be classed as a caravan and is therefore exempt from Building Regulations. Not only is the structure exempt but also associated works and base. The best bit is you only pay 5% VAT too.

But could we get you to build a Comfort version and then bring it up to insulation building reg standard ourselves? What is lacking in the comfort verision in terms of building regs?

    • Paula June 15, 2018 at 3:23 pm - Reply

      Hi Rebecca,

Yes you could buy the comfort version and bring it up to Building Regulations standard yourselves. You would need to consider increasing the roof and floor insulation to 160mm and 119mm, increasing the size of the floor bearers, upgrading the doors and windows to housing quality (Premium) standard and adding wall insulation. You would also need to provide structural and engineering calculations and B Regs will also demand an uprated base. All associated services will also be under Building Regulations scrutiny.

If the two bed lodge is for accommodation we highly recommend the ‘Sandpiper’ caravan/mobile home version (exactly the same size/layout) but as its not classed as a building but a caravan then it is completely exempt from Building Regs (as are associated works) and you only pay 5% VAT. It’s the way to go!

      Hi Graham,

We suggest you take a look at our caravan/mobile home page. http://logcabins.co.uk/keops-caravans-mobile-homes/ We have around 40 layouts of various sizes to give an idea of what we can do, with prices which include construction and 5% VAT. The plans are just ideas, we can manufacture whatever layout you require. Let us know your sizes/plan and we can soon quote.
